Taigh a' Bhadlaich - Location

Location

The cottage is located on the edge of the moor, yet only 1 mile from the white sands of the machair, between the townships of Trosairidh and Garrynamonie.

Isle of South Uist

Nature:

Take a short walk to the machair through the township of Garrynamoine and listen to that most enigmatic machair bird - the corncrake. If you are very lucky you might catch a glimpse of him in the irises. Arriving at the machair, listen to the skylark's beautiful song, as he flies high in the sky.

Freedom:

If you fancy a leisurely stroll along the machair with its wild flowers and its white beach, head down through the small township of Garrynamoine for about a mile. Or if you are feeling a little more energetic, jump the fence and step straight into the moors and head up Easbhal, the hill next to the house.

Peace:

The Southern end of South Uist is such a traquil and relaxing location for the visitor. Experience the wide open vistas and the fantastic Hebridean "light"

"This was a very clean, comfortable, cosy home from home holiday bungalow. When the weather came in ( as you expect in this part of the world!!) we were still very comfortable and warm. However we had lots of sun and loved the bird life (we watched an owl hunting in the fields around the house), the beautiful flora and miles and miles of glorious walking along spectacular beaches. It was probably one of the most relaxing holidays we have had. Add to that exciting trout fishing in the many lochs. What could be better!!

"Fabulous house for our stay on South Uist. The views alone are worth the money, the house was a lovely bonus. Everything you might need on holiday was catered for and Annie contacted us to make sure we were happy with everything. My only regret is that I only booked for one week. I won't make that mistake next time! I would highly recommend this house to anyone considering a stay on South Uist.""

A great cottage from which to explore South Uist and nearby Barra. Fabulously clean, well stocked kitchen and very cosy. Thanks so much for our stay in your lovely house. It was such a gorgeous home from home and so sparkling clean! We really enjoyed our stay and the views to Barra. We watched the short-eared owls on many evenings too. Thanks so much Amanda"

"We had a wonderful two week holiday, this is a lovely cottage, spacious, well equipped, spotlessly clean. The views from the cottage are beautiful, it’s a very quiet and peaceful spot. There is a lovely beach at the bottom of the lane, about a mile away and many more within 10 minutes drive. The beaches are wonderful, white sand, turquoise water and mostly deserted. The local amenities are good, a CoOp shop and some lovely cafes for lunch, all within a short drive. This is a great base for exploring the area."

I grew up in, but it has changed quite a bit from the corregated iron house that was originally built in 1930
